EAL Instructor | Brazil – Summer 2025
Are you a dynamic and experienced educator with international experience and a passion for language learning and cultural diversity? AEI is looking to contract a dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher to support students in developing their English language skills during an intense 3-week English language immersion and cultural programming course in Brazil in late July or early August 2025.

Job Type: Contract position.
Location: Cabo de Santo Agostino, Brazil.
Dates: 3 weeks duration in late July or early August 2025 (exact dates to be confirmed).
Compensation: Competitive honorarium plus travel and accommodation expenses covered.
Responsibilities:
- Create and deliver engaging, student-centered English language lessons to Brazilian learners (ages and levels to be specified in advance).
- Promote cross-cultural exchange and a communicative approach to language learning.
- Collaborate with AEI and local partners to ensure a supportive and safe learning environment.
- Provide feedback on student progress and contribute to the program’s success.
Qualifications and Experience:
A valid New Brunswick Teachers Certificate and/or Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language and/or evidence of experience in EAL teaching. TESL/TESOL-qualified EAL instructor would be considered as an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience teaching English as an Additional/Foreign Language, preferably in an international or multicultural context.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset.

Homestay Administrator (ASD-East)| One-Year Contract
AEI has an immediate job opportunity in Anglophone School District – East (ASD-East) for a Homestay Administrator to work collaboratively with our Regional Manager and our team of Homestay Coordinators. This one-year contract is a full-time, 12-month per year position, based out of your own home (i.e., remote). Evening and weekend availability will be required.
AEI’s international student program welcomes students from around the world into New Brunswick’s Anglophone middle and high schools. Tuition-paying students live with host families, attend classes in New Brunswick public schools and participate in extra-curricular and community activities. As an organization, we are responsible for the safety of, and client services to, these students throughout their time in our program.
The Homestay Administrator role is responsible for supporting the Regional Manager and working with the Homestay Coordinators in their school district.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Managing the homestay component of AEI’s student database (i.e., homestay matches, host family stipends, Criminal Record Checks & Vulnerable Sector Checks).
- Acting as the first line of communication for Homestay Coordinators to resolve and troubleshoot homestay issues.
- Assisting with direct and indirect problem solving between host families and students.
- Coordinating and participating in student arrivals and departures.
- Performing other student and organization related duties as required.
Desired qualifications for the position include:
- Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education in an applicable field.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with understanding and sensitivity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with particular attention to detail.
- Experience working with youth.
- Ability to use tact and good judgement to effectively resolve stressful conflict situations.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and proficiency with MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), additional database programs and social media.
- A valid New Brunswick driver’s license, safe driving record and access to a personal vehicle.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.

Homestay Coordinator (Petitcodiac Regional School, ASD-East)
NBISP is searching for self-motivated Homestay Coordinators to join the team as an independent contractor. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Promote the host family program in your community.
- Seek new homestay families on an ongoing basis.
- Recruit, screen, and interview host families.
- Foster and encourage student engagement.
- Organize activities for international students.
- Communicate regularly with students and host families.
- Be on call, when required, outside of normal work hours to assist with homestay issues/problems and ensure that proper protocols are followed in emergency situations.
- Collaborate and produce reports regularly with Regional Manager and Homestay Administrator.
- Organize and attend student airport arrivals and departures.
- Work with AEI staff to deliver student and host orientation.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study/or experience. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have:
- Minimum high school diploma supplemented by relevant further education/experience in the field of education, social work, or the social sciences.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours, their own car and a valid New Brunswick driver’s license.
- The ability to work within tight timelines.
- Demonstrate sensitivity for the requirements of international students: language difficulties, culture shock, and community/school adjustment.
Nice to have:
- International experience is an asset.
- Experience in programming for youth aged 11-18 years old.
- Knowledge of database systems and computer technology.
- Understanding of the New Brunswick education system.
- Remuneration is based on the number of student placements that the successful candidate has in their portfolio (at any given time throughout the year).
